Lamingtons

It is looking more and more like cooking will be a big part of our homeschooling adventure. When we recently went to the Homeschooling Expo at Cobb Galleria, I found this awesome book called The Usborne Children’s World Cookbook. It is separated by countries and has recipes for authentic dishes that are popular there. Today for our ┬ácountry/cooking project we made Lamingtons, which are little cakes covered in chocolate icing with coconut flakes that are from Australia.

I let Haden add ingredients & mix stuff up. Lately I have even been letting him (with help) put eggs in things after I crack them.
A little sweet for me but Haden deemed them DELICIOUS!
Whenever we do these, we alway learn some facts about the country that the dish comes from. I use a book called My Picture Atlas, which is made by Priddy Books. Today we learned that 65% of Australia is made up of the “outback” and Australia is famous for the Great Barrier Reef, which is the largest living thing on Earth.
